COVID: new `Deltacron' coronavirus variation found in Cyprus



A new variety, with ten mutations from Omicron, has a genetic background similar to that of the Delta variation. Local media in Cyprus reported on Saturday that a novel coronavirus variant is known as "Deltacron" had been discovered. According to the Cyprus Mail, the variant has a genetic history similar to the Delta variation, as well as a few mutations from Omicron. Within the 25 samples obtained in Cyprus, 10 of the Omicron mutations were found. Eleven of the samples were from people who had been admitted to hospitals due to the illness, while 14 came from the general public.
