US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Marcia Fudge and US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Secretary Denis McDonough announced $10.4 million to rehabilitate low-income people through the Veterans Housing Rehabilitation and Modification Pilot Program (VHRMP) and homes for the disabled.

“Those who serve and sacrifice to protect our country deserve to live with dignity and respect for safe and quality housing,” Popletal said in a statement.

“With this funding, low-income and disabled veterans will receive changes and improvements to make their environment more suitable for their needs and independent living.”

In partnership with the VA, HUD is using the VHRMP to test new approaches to addressing veteran home rehabilitation and rehab challenges.

VHRMP grants are awarded to nonprofit organizations that provide statewide and statewide programs primarily for low-income veterans with disabilities.

Grants are used to qualify for the renovation or rehabilitation of primary residences or to provide peer subsidies with service-related technical, administrative, and training support.

“Every veteran deserves a good, safe home in the country where they fought and sacrificed,” McDonough said. “This fund will go a long way in helping low-income and disabled veterans through their homes to ensure they can live happily and independently.

We are proud to partner with HUD to help these vets who served our country.” well.

HUD says the competition will award grants of up to $1 million to selected applicants, and HUD hopes to generate about 10 awards from funds available under the funding opportunity announcement.

The money for these grants will be available in September. 15, 2022. Eligible applicants can apply for the money through Grants.gov. The application deadline is August 24, 2022.
