Liz Cheney: New revelation reveals "real danger" to Donald Trump Congresswoman Liz Cheney said Donald Trump's refusal to resign from the presidency after losing the 2020 election "underscores the reality of the gravity" of his attempts to manipulate the results. The former president allegedly promised his aides to stay in the White House even after Joe Biden's inauguration, according to the findings of New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman. Cheney made the remarks in response to those allegations. I'm not leaving the 45th president reportedly told aides, according to Haberman's soon-to-be-published book: Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and The Breaking of America. We never go away. After winning the election, how are you going to leave? The comments he was said to have conveyed were "not shocking," according to Cheney. People often claim it wasn't as bad as it actually was, she said in an interview with CNN on Monday. "And when you hear something like that, I think you should realize that we were in a zone free of any man and had never been in it before as a nation. And if your leader refuses to vacate the White House or says that he refuses to leave the White House anybody who kind of steps aside and says that somebody else is going to take it on is the same thing that puts the nation at risk because obviously when you're the moment we face, everyone has to stand up and take responsibility," Cheney said. I believe that simply underscores, proves the truth of the risk, said the speaker. Over the past week, 40 of Mr. Trump's advisers and aides have received grand jury summonses from the Justice Department's riot investigation. In addition to those who have remained close to Trump since his term ended on January 20, 2021, the subpoenas, issued as part of a secret grand jury investigation into his push to remain in the White House despite losing the election, targeted Daniel Scavino, his longtime social media mentor.
