A U.S. judge refused to allow the Justice Department to appeal a review of confidential records seized by the FBI from former President Donald Trump's home, in a decision in his favor.

Federal Judge Ellen Cannon, Judge Raymond Deere, Senior Magistrate's Court, has also appointed a third party to review documents seized by the FBI in search of material that may be subject to privilege for removal from federal investigators.

The Ministry of Justice promised to refer the case to the Court of Appeal if Cannon ruled against its claim.

It also sought to prevent Deere from examining nearly 100 confidential documents within the Alpha 11 collected during an inspection of Trump's residence at the Mar-a-Lago resort, which was approved by the court on August 8.

Without further review by an impartial third party in a prompt and orderly manner, the Court does not deem it appropriate to accept the Government's conclusions on these crucial issues in dispute, according to Cannon.

Trump had asked the court to appoint an independent third party to examine the confiscated documents, so that he could identify what could be returned to him or classified as "confidential" and thus not be used in the investigations targeting him.

Trump reiterated his :

claim that he had declassified all documents he kept at his home more than a year after leaving the White House, stressing that "there is no reason for them to charge me, unless they are sick and disturbed, which is possible, because I did nothing wrong at all."

Trump demands court dismiss DOJ's request for special investigation into confiscated documents

Former US President Trump asked the court to dismiss the Justice Department's appeal requesting a special expert to examine documents seized by the FBI at his home last August.

With regard to the out-of-control document storage dispute, the government is wrongly seeking to criminalize possession by the 45th President of the United States of his presidential and personal records, Trump's lawyers wrote in the lawsuit, arguing that "the risk of irreparable harm to President Trump if the documents are not first reviewed by a neutral third party."
