The term "world news" or "international news" refers to news about a country or a global subject that originates from abroad. World news or international news or even foreign coverage is the news media from abroad, about a country or a global subject. For journalism, it's a branch that deals with news either sent by news agencies, or more recently information that's gathered or researched through distance communication technologies, such as telephone, TV or the internet.
