The Sustainable World Zimbabwe Trust will provide food aid to 500 children aged five and below in Makoni District, Manicaland province of Zimbabwe. The children are suffering from malnutrition as a result of the EL-NINO drought that is affecting Zimbabwe. Makoni District like many regions in Zimbabwe, is facing severe effects of the El Nino phenomenon that is ravaging communities. Due to climate change, communities experienced low rainfall during the 2023/2024 farming season. Therefore, children are the most vulnerable group in society and are facing malnutrition because there are shortages of food. We are providing food relief to children aged five years and below. The relief will include monthly basic food hampers and handouts to parents of those affected children. The hampers will have dried maize, cooking oil, beans, and salt. This initiative is going to eliminate malnutrition in the families of the 500 affected children. The project will also help more than 1000 indirect beneficiaries by ensuring food security in Makoni District.
